The scope of this role includes:
• Stewardship of a 1,400-acre campus
• Oversight of 200+ buildings and 5.5M+ square feet of facilities
• Leadership of ~160 facilities professionals
• Executive oversight of facilities operations, capital planning, design & construction, and utilities
• Implementation of a newly approved campus physical master plan

The SAVP will play a key leadership role in advancing major campus initiatives while ensuring operational excellence across one of the CSU system’s most dynamic campuses.

The campus is experiencing continued growth and transformation, supported by strategic investments in facilities, infrastructure, and sustainability. Facilities Planning & Management (FP&M) plays a central role in this progress, stewarding the university’s physical environment-including more than 200 buildings and approximately 5.5 million gross square feet of facilities. With a team of approximately 160 employees, FP&M oversees campus planning, design and construction, facilities operations, utilities, and sustainability initiatives that support the university’s mission and long-term strategic vision.

About this role:
Reporting to the Vice President for Administrative Affairs who also serves as the Chief Financial Officer, the Senior Associate Vice President (SAVP) for Facilities Planning & Management provides executive leadership for the university’s comprehensive facilities enterprise. This role oversees facilities and maintenance, capital planning, design and construction, business services, and campus physical planning.

This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for shaping the long-term stewardship and development of Cal Poly Pomona’s physical campus. The SAVP leads a large and diverse workforce, guides a significant capital program addressing more than $2 billion in deferred maintenance, capital improvement, and infrastructure needs, and partners closely with university leadership to ensure that facilities planning supports the institution’s academic mission, student success, and operational excellence.

The role also carries a unique responsibility: oversight of the university’s water treatment plant-one of only two such facilities operated within the CSU system-positioning this leader at the forefront of infrastructure stewardship and sustainability innovation on campus.

CSU Classification Salary Range

This position is part of the Management Personnel Plan (MPP) bargaining unit M80. The CSU Classification Standards for this position are located on the CSU Classification Standards website. The CSU Salary Schedule is located on the CSU Salary Schedule website. The classification salary range for this position according to the respective skill level is: minimum $6,891 and maximum $22,119 per month. Please refer to the anticipated hiring range for the appropriate salary rate for this particular position.

University Driving Requirements

Positions that require driving for university business by using a personal or state vehicle must comply with the Authorized University Driver Policy. Driving records are monitored and evaluated by the Risk Management Department. The Risk Management Department evaluates a good driving report based on the following criteria. The driver must: 1. Have a valid California or other State Driver’s license. 2. Have no more than 3 motor vehicle violations or been the cause of 3 accidents in a 12-month period (or any combination of 3 thereof) 3. Not have more than 3 DMV Points, if their license is Class C or, 4. Not have more than 5 DMV Points, if their license is Class A, B, or C with endorsements.
