City of Menifee Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency committed to protecting and serving the residents of Menifee with professionalism, integrity, and transparency. Established to meet the needs of a rapidly growing community, the department provides a wide range of services including patrol, traffic enforcement, criminal investigations, and community outreach programs. THE OPPORTUNITYThe Code Enforcement Technician will be responsible for providing vital administrative and technical support to the Code Enforcement Division, serving as a key link between the public, contractors, and city staff. This opportunity involves managing records, preparing reports, and coordinating office operations while also assisting residents with questions and complaints about city codes and procedures. By handling sensitive information with discretion, generating work orders for enforcement officers, and ensuring smooth communication across departments, the technician plays an essential role in maintaining compliance and supporting the city’s commitment to safe, orderly, and well-managed communities.
The Code Enforcement Technician will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Provide advanced administrative and technical support to the Code Enforcement Division, including preparing reports, correspondence, and official documents.
- Serve as a liaison between the department, city staff, and the public; represent the division at meetings and coordinate resolutions to routine issues.
- Respond to inquiries and complaints from residents, contractors, vendors, and staff in person, by phone, or electronically; explain city policies, procedures, and code enforcement processes; refer individuals to appropriate resources when necessary.
- Receive and process code compliance calls and complaints; generate and track work orders for Code Enforcement Officers.
- Design, implement, and maintain filing, indexing, tracking, and record-keeping systems; research records and compile information to support reports and follow-up requests.
- Operate and maintain office equipment and software applications, including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and other department-specific systems.
- Ensure confidentiality and accuracy in handling sensitive information and departmental records.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the division.
MINIMUM AND DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS• The ideal candidate will have one (1) or more years of advanced administrative support experience
in a regulatory or enforcement-related environment, such as compliance, inspections, permitting, general code enforcement, or similar.• A high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required, supplemented by college-level coursework in code enforcement/compliance, urban planning, business or public administration, or a related field.
• The candidate must possess or be able to obtain by the time of appointment, a valid California Driver’s License.
Possession of the CACEO Module I (Basic) Academy is highly desirable but not required.

RECRUITMENT PROCESSHuman Resources (HR) reviews all application materials to determine whether candidates meet the established minimum and preferred qualifications. Application Screening (Refer/Non-Refer)Applications and supplemental materials will be reviewed to identify candidates whose qualifications best align with the essential requirements of the position. Appraisal Interview Applicants will participate in an oral interview conducted by a panel of subject matter experts. Evaluations will be based on responses to structured questions specifically designed to assess each candidate’s qualifications and suitability for the position.
Based on the Department's needs, the selection procedures listed above may be modified. All candidates will be notified of any changes in the selection procedure. Eligible List: Once the appraisal has been completed, HR will establish an eligible list of candidates. Candidates placed on the eligible list may be referred to a selection interview to be considered for present and future vacancies.
Physical Demands
Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone. This is primarily a sedentary office classification although standing in work areas and walking between work areas may be required. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment. Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
Environmental Elements
Employees work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.
