A Sr. Equipment Operator job is available with the City of Fort Worth Transportation and Public Works Street Operations Division. The candidate in this position will work in the South Concrete Sector. The South Concrete Sector performs permanent concrete repairs. The ideal candidate has extensive knowledge in building forms, setting rebar and dowels, directing concrete pours, and is skilled in all aspects of concrete finishing.
Minimum Qualifications: - High school diploma/GED
- Three (3) years of experience in operation of motorized equipment or construction equipment
- Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License Class "A" or "B" at the time of hire based on assignment with no air brake restrictions
Preferred Qualifications: - 1 (one) year of concrete maintenance experience
- Traffic Control (MUTCD) and safety procedures
- Experience with power tools, hand tools, heavy equipment, and other tools related to concrete work and street maintenance
The Sr Equipment Operator job responsibilities include: - Operate on-road equipment, including operating a dump truck and/ or tractor trailer
- Operate heavy equipment such as backhoe, skid steer, excavator, and other various heavy equipment
- Concrete repair and maintenance
- Traffic Control (MUTCD) and safety procedures
- Knowledge and use of data entry systems such as VueWorks and/or work order management systems
- Work zone set up and job site safety
- Trains new crew members and monitors performance
Working Conditions Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions.
Physical Demand Heavy Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
