Maintenance Manager
Description
TYPICAL DUTIES
Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Plan, direct, organize, and oversee staff in day-to-day division operation, preparation and implementation of procedures, and allocation of divisional resources and functional
Manage and participate in development and implementation of short- and long-term goals, objectives, and priorities for assigned functions and programs; and recommend appropriate service and staffing levels.
Prepare schedules; research and obtain costs, and justify purchases, programs, and equipment, including supporting information to assist in development of the department’s annual and mid-budget submissions and updates; and regularly monitor expenditures and
Select, train, motivate, and evaluate assigned personnel; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees on performance issues; respond to staff questions and concerns; make discipline recommendations; and resolve grievances, when possible, and escalate to the next level if unresolved.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of service delivery methods and procedures; assess and monitor workload, and internal reporting relationships; identify opportunities for improvement with the Department Director; and manage implementation of organizational improvements.
Ensure completion of division work in a manner consistent with District procedures, and applicable laws, codes, statutes, and regulations; and identify revised or new policies and procedures to address changes in work processes, legal requirements, and regulatory
Develop, implement, and administer preventative and predictive maintenance programs for the District’s Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) and Recycled Water Facility (RWF), pump stations, power distribution systems, buildings and grounds, and other District
Coordinate and manage responses to requests, inquiries, and complaints from the public, customers, and outside organizations related to maintenance and repair activities or street sweeping services.
Oversee contract services within the division and provide feedback to service
Gather and evaluate information and data on legislative, regulatory, and industry practices and procedures, developments, and trends impacting division programs and activities.
Prepare, review, edit, and present engaging and informative regular and special reports, information, and presentations to governing bodies, executive and managerial staff, community groups, the public, and District staff on issues related to key division initiatives, functions, projects, and activities.
Prepare a variety of analyses, reports, schedules, recommendations, and memoranda on programs and special projects.
Coordinate division activities with other District departments and divisions during course of normal business and as part of emergency response conditions.
Effectively perform other work duties and responsibilities consistent with the position on an as needed and/or assigned basis.
General Organizational Duties
Assist in development and implementation of strategic initiatives related to the District’s Strategic Plan.
Oversee development and implementation of activities related to key performance indicators for the department and division.
Identify and oversee the implementation of relevant innovative processes, technologies, and/or approaches for implementation at the District.

Establish and maintain effective relationships with other staff members, staff of other agencies, professional organizations, and other relevant stakeholders.
