Position DescriptionManages a section in a department that has institutional oversight. Plans, organizes and develops goals and procedures for the section. Represents the section to administrators, outside agencies and others on relevant matters. Supervises subordinate staff.
Major/Essential Functions- Provides safety, health, and training consultation to TTUHSC(Texas Tech Health Sciences Center) campuses' stakeholders and manages related concerns.
- Provides and supports operational functions and supports emergency preparedness, safety education and training programs for the TTUHSC campuses.
- Plans, develops, implements and supports safety programs to meet regulatory, institutional requirements and goals.
- Coordinates utilization of the enterprise online safety training system for all Unit Safety Officers (USO), schools, and departments on all campuses.
- Changes are processes data to update in Outlook distribution lists; change notifications are sent to appropriate personnel.
- Processes all USO changes throughout the fiscal year.
- Serves as point of contact for USOs on all campus locations and correctional health care administrators.
- Maintains monthly email correspondence with USOs.
- Monthly correspondence and distribution of information for New Employee Safety Orientation Program requirements for all campus locations and correctional health care.
- Communicates with and generates reports for Regional Campus Safety Managers.
- Communicates with supervisor and other departmental and managerial personnel on problems, recommendations, solutions, and situations.
- Travel to assigned regional campuses to provide comprehensive support for training and safety operations.
- Documents safety cross-training with all other Safety Services divisions and campuses to enhance knowledge of the utilization of the enterprise online safety training system.
- Responsible for keeping personal Safety-related knowledge, skills, and abilities up-to-date and putting this into practice on the campus; continually updates professional knowledge in all safety-related areas as needed.
- Serve as a driver for the department and be listed as an approved driver as determined by the TTUS(Texas Tech University Systems) Office of Risk Management and institutional auto insurance carrier.
Required QualificationsBachelor's degree plus four years of supervisory experience OR a combination of education and/or years of supervisory experience to equal a minimum of 8 years.
