ABOUT THE POSITION

Clark County is accepting online applications for the 2026 Summer Business Institute (SBI) - a paid summer internship program for current high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are at least 16 years old by June 8, 2026. Virtual interviews for the internship positions will be held March 2, 2026, through March 27, 2026.

Clark County launched the SBI Program in 1996 in an effort to expose inner-city youth to the variety of career choices around them.

This is the 30th year Clark County has sponsored the SBI Program, which provides selected teenagers internship opportunities in a variety of fields including law, business administration, engineering, education, recreation, information technology and communications.

Through collaborative partnerships, participants will be paid $12.00 an hour to work eight-hour days Monday through Wednesday. As part of their internship on Thursdays, interns will learn about financial management and life skills through seminars, workshops and hands-on experience.

STUDENTS MUST ATTACH THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS TO THEIR APPLICATION, OR E-MAIL THE FOLLOWING (2) DOCUMENTS:
1) Most recent school transcript, verifying a GPA of 2.0 or higher that includes all the grades earned while attending high school. (R eport cards are not accepted.)
2) One (1) letter of recommendation (DATED WITHIN THE LAST TWO MONTHS) of application.

Important Program Dates:
Given the short duration of this internship, SBI is not able to accommodate extended absences for vacation, college visits, summer camps or other purposes. Please apply only if you are able to commit to participating for the full duration of the program.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS



All hired interns will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening prior to beginning work with the SBI program. Hired interns who are 18 years of age or older will be required to pass a background investigation and a pre-employment drug screening prior to beginning work with the SBI program.

NOTE: Students interested in this position MUST submit an on-line application at www.clarkcountynv.gov no later than 5:00 PM on the February 17, 2026. THIS RECRUITMENT IS LIMITED TO THE FIRST 300 APPLICATIONS RECEIVED AND WILL CLOSE AND STOP ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS WITHOUT NOTICE ONCE THAT NUMBER IS REACHED even if it is prior to the February 17, 2026 closing date.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

The duties will vary depending on the internship assignment and work location.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Specified positions may be required to lift or move heavy materials. Some positions may spend periods of time outdoors and be subject to existing weather conditions including high summer temperatures. Accommodation may be made for some of these physical demands for otherwise qualified individuals who require and request such accommodation.
