TEMPORARY DSP&S Mobility Driver (Part-Time)

Description

Under general supervision, provides on-campus transportation to students with mobility-related disabili ties; and performs related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and at least one year of driving, working with the public and working with individuals with disabilities; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

A valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's vehicle insurance program.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this class, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, feel and operate objects, tools and controls; reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, walk, sit, talk and hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally over 100 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Mental Demands

While performing the duties of this class, employees are regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data, information and documents; analyze and solve basic problems; observe and interpret situations; learn and apply new information or new skills; work under deadlines with interruptions; and interact with students, college/District staff and the public.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

The employee works near moving mechanical parts and equipment in outdoor weather conditions; works in traffic; and may be exposed to extreme heat and moderately cold weather. The noise level is moder ately noisy.

The employee may be required to travel to locations other than assigned work site and to adjust to work schedule changes and requirements to work overtime.
