The Role at a Glance

The Wage Agency Instructor, under direction, assists in training various specialty skilled and/or semi-skilled courses within the Infrastructure Training & Safety Institute (ITSI) DOT-PHMSA Hazardous Materials Instructor (HMIT) Training Grant program. Utilizes knowledge of adult learning theories and learning styles to help maximize learner success and ensure overall effectiveness of the course instruction. Performs online and/or classroom instruction, field-based skills training, and/or may provide technical assistance in a specialty area such as Hazardous Materials (49 CFR). Uses a variety of media to present course material. May assist in creating new and/or updating curriculum content, when necessary, to meet learner needs. Works with the PHMSA Training team and ITSI customers to deliver training in and assist in development of TEEX PHMSA HMIT courses. This is a grant/contract-funded position. Employment is dependent upon business needs and/or continuation of grant/contract funds.

This position reports to the Training Manager.

Qualifications of the Role


Equivalency: Will consider an associate’s degree and two years of experience in Hazardous Materials (49 CFR) or a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. Must also have one year of adult education and/or training.
