Description

The Position

The City of Riverside is accepting applications for the position of Deputy Fire Marshal in theFire Prevention Division of the Fire Department.

The Deputy Fire Marshal, under general direction, to manage, supervise, and coordinate the Certified Unified Program Agency (CUPA) and plan checking programs along with various activities within the Fire Prevention Division of the Fire Department; to assist in managing other programs and activities of the Fire Prevention Division; to coordinate assigned activities with other City departments, divisions, and outside agencies; to provide highly responsible administrative support to the Division Chief (Fire Marshal); and to perform related work as required.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Option I:

Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Fire Science, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience: Four years of progressively responsible experience in fire safety inspection including one year of experience with hazardous materials, codes and regulations relating to inspection programs

Option II:

Education : Equivalent to an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Fire Science, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience : Six years of progressively responsible experience in fire safety inspection including one year of experience with hazardous materials, codes and regulations relating to inspection programs.

Necessary Special Requirement
Possession of an appropriate, valid class "C" California Motor Vehicle Operator's License.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

An equivalency statement from an evaluation company certified by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) at http://www.naces.org/members.html or the Association of International Credential Evaluators Inc. (AICE) at http://aice-eval.org/members/ . An advanced-level degree from an accredited US college or university.
