BACKGROUND

The Los Angeles City Fire Department has an emergency hire opportunity for a Risk Management & Prevention Program Specialist (7980) position. The Risk Management & Prevention Program Specialist will be assigned to the Department’s Fire Prevention & Public Safety Bureau, Certified Unified Program Agency Division.

WORK SCHEDULE

The Los Angeles City Fire Department offers 5/40 and 9/80 work schedules and has implemented a hybrid telecommuting program which allows some classifications a minimum of three (3) in-office work days per week, and on the remaining workdays, employees may telecommute. The specific in-office days are flexible and will be coordinated with Executive Management. The hybrid telecommuting program is subject to change.

Emergency Appointment

An emergency appointment is not a regular appointment. It is a temporary appointment which does not require that you successfully compete in the Civil Service examination process. The appointment may not exceed one year and must be terminated immediately when a regular appointment can be made from an eligible list. No emergency appointment can exceed one year. (City Charter Section 1013).
