Pay Range: $28.62 - $35.78/hr.

City of Fort Worth is seeking candidates for Sr. Engineering Technician position for the City's Traffic Signal Team to provide traffic signal design service. Individual in this position will support Traffic Engineers and Project Managers with the production of drawings, layouts, sketches, maps, and graphic representations of engineering designs using CAD software and/or GIS.
Minimum Qualifications: - Associate Degree in Engineering, Architecture or a related field.
- At least Five (5) years of increasingly responsible technical engineering experience in areas of drafting, design, and/or survey.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications: - Customer service experience.
- Municipal traffic engineering experience in traffic signal design, familiarity with MUTCD and signal operation.
- Computer software experience in AutoCAD, MS Excel, Word, GIS, and Google Earth are also preferred.
The Senior Engineering Technician job responsibilities include: - Create CAD sheets from sketches, layouts, and drawings prepared by others.
- Prepare electronic drawings from minimum marked-up plans and/or verbal instruction by engineers using established CAD standards.
- Perform CAD Design for traffic signal design, traffic control plans, and signing and pavement marking
- Conducting research, reviewing ROW Maps/easements, preparing deed sketches, preparing metes and bounds descriptions, closure sheets, detailed drawings and exhibits
- Process field data and perform initial CAD work on field survey.
- Preparation of standards and best-management procedures that drive production consistencies across all project and maintain City’s CAD standards and workspaces for traffic signal design.
- Individual is flexible and may work with numerous project teams to help in project completion.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculation in all units of measurement
- Determine construction quantities and cost estimation
- Organizing and managing your own work to accomplish project goals within deadlines
- Plotting and assembling construction plans
Working Conditions Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting.
Physical Demands Light Work- Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pound of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the sedentary work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
