SummaryThis opportunity is open to current King County employees only. We are not accepting external applications at this time. About the Role: This role will provide support to other members of the Open Space Acquisitions Unit and internal and external clients on a wide range of duties, including data management; records management; continuous improvement of processes, supporting development of the Natural Asset Management Program; and providing technical expertise and process management support to other internal staff. The position will also support budget, finance, asset valuation, and will occasionally receive and respond to inquiries from partner organizations, landowners, and other residents of King County. The work in this position will involve management of complex technical information and the interpretation of established policies, procedures systems and laws. Work is performed primarily on an independent basis with limited direct supervision.
This position performs work remotely and onsite. About the Team: The Open Space Acquisitions Unit is part of the Rural and Regional Services Section, in the Water and Land Resource Division. This unit works to conserve land in King County to advance the County’s Land Conservation Initiative by (1) awarding approximately $100 million annually for conservation acquisitions through the Conservation Futures Tax grant program; (2) acquiring land on behalf of King County partners within the Department of Natural Resources and Parks to permanently protect parks, open space, trail corridors, habitat/ecological areas, floodplains, forestland and farmland; and (3) operating the transfer of development rights program, compensatory mitigation programs, and supporting a carbon credit market - all of which are market-based conservation programs. Staff in the unit regularly work with external clients and partners to deliver services.
In addition to advancing the Land Conservation Initiative, the unit’s work also advances the Strategic Climate Action Plan, The Clean Water Healthy Habitat Initiative, the 30-year Forest Plan, the Local Food Initiative, the King County Flood Plan, and the King County Comprehensive Plan.

Job DutiesWhat You Will Be Doing: Analyze and evaluate data for assigned projects and technical systems and provide technical expertise to other internal staff. Develop, implement, and evaluate methods for monitoring existing and new administrative systems to support work activities at the unit level, striving for continuous improvement of processes and data integrity; this will include providing data management and training support for the Customer Relationship Management tool.Participate in strategic planning efforts and help develop and/or revise policies and procedures for assigned work unit, including supporting the development of the Natural Asset Management Program. Provide high-level administrator support for assigned work unit’s various programs/projects, including acquisitions, markets, Conservation Futures, and finance. Provide lead direction to assigned staff on a project basis. Prepare presentation materials and publications for internal use. Be the primary point of contact for landowner inquiries. Be the records management lead for assigned work unit. Develop routine contract specifications, including scopes of work. Develop and manage projects of limited scope within work unit. Represent the work unit on internal and external committees or task forces. Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, SkillsQualifications You Bring:- Experience researching and analyzing financial data, including identifying revenues, expenditures and discrepancies and conducting some basic forecasting; preparing financial reports and making corrections within established parameters.
- Demonstrated information-gathering, analysis techniques, and principles for research assignments.
- Analyze and evaluate data for assigned research projects and technical systems, assess program models and prepare summary reports.
- Experience in managing records, including asset management related reports.
- Strong communication (verbal and written) and organization skills.
- Experience interpreting and applying existing King County policies, procedures, and codes where relevant.
- Develop routine contract specifications, including scope or work.
- Develop and manage a project of limited scope within work unit.

- Expert knowledge and skill in Oracle EBS and Procurement systems.
- Knowledge of real estate transaction processes.
Supplemental InformationRemote and Onsite Work Details:Employees in this role work remotely from a home location, with onsite reporting requirements typically 1-2 times per month. The frequency of onsite work is determined by business needs and may be adjusted accordingly. Onsite reporting locations may be at various King County worksites including the collaboration space at King Street Center (201 S. Jackson St, Seattle, WA 98104).
Remote Work Location Requirement: Employees must reside in Washington State and be within a reasonable distance to King County worksites to meet onsite reporting requirements.
Work Schedule: This full-time position works a 40-hour work week. This position is covered under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible.
