Description:The
Fuel Systems Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing specialized skilled work in the operation, maintenance and repair of fuel system elements used in the provision of fuel. Inspect all fuel facilities and take appropriate action as necessary, based on such inspection, to ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations. Read fuel meters. Inspect, maintain, repair and replace, as necessary, all elements of the fuel system, including tanks, pumps, meters, pulsers, nozzles, hoses, swivels, fittings and all hardware used to track fuel levels and usage.
Schedule: This position works Monday-Thursday, 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM, and is required on-site at the Central Shop, in addition to occasional site visits throughout Jefferson County. This position also requires the need to be available for on-call outside of normal business hours.
Compensation:
Anticipated Hiring Range: $25.00 - $26.00 USD Hourly Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, and skills.

Essential Duties - Install, maintain, repair and adjust pumps, control valves, tanks, meters, strainers, filters, water separators, pipelines and all other elements of liquid fuel systems.
- Navigate Fleet Asset Management software (Faster) and Fuel tracking software (Phoenix)
- Monthly fuel site inspections, in compliance with applicable regulations, to detect and correct leakage, corrosion, faulty fittings, and malfunction of mechanical units, meters and gauges, such as fuel hydrants, tank pits, distribution lines, storage tanks, turbines, pumps and control rooms.
- Inspect electrical wiring, switches and controls for safe operating condition, grounding and adjustment. Repair, replace and adjust malfunctioning equipment to restore operating condition specified in regulations and repair manuals.
- Clean and paint storage tanks. Remove and install old and new equipment, such as meter and filter installations, pipe systems, pit covers and vents to modify existing installations.
- Engage contractors, as necessary, to perform work on fuel system, or any portion thereof, or to provide parts for maintenance or repairs to be conducted by County staff.
- Read fuel meters at shop facilities regularly. Determine use and schedule deliveries to maintain constant supplies. Maintain and repair fuel pumps and tanks at County fueling facilities.
- Disassemble, adjust, align and calibrate gauges and meters.
- Pick up and deliver equipment parts.
- Be on call, at all times, for any urgent matter relating to fuel and fuel provision.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED and;
- 1 year of work-related experience.
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CDL License by the State of Colorado Department of Transportation to handle hazardous material.
