Minimum Qualifications
Education and/or Equivalent Experience: - Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Architecture, Business, Environmental Studies, Natural Science, Planning, Resource Management, or in a field related to the job, plus four (4) years of related experience, including two (2) years of experience which were in a lead or supervisory capacity.
- Graduation with a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for the required experience of up to two (2) years.
- Experience may substitute for education up to the maximum of four (4) years.

What does the Watershed Protection Department do?
POSITION OVERVIEW :
The Applied Watershed Science section ( AWS ) integrates watershed science into the Watershed Protection Department’s policies, practices, programs, and projects. Staff in this group work on a diverse set of watershed studies, including groundwater, stormwater, and baseflow water quality monitoring, as well as aquatic and riparian ecosystem studies. They also assess and develop best practices for stormwater treatment of urban runoff, and experimental design for various water quality research projects.
The role of this position is to oversee a surface water monitoring team. As a Conservation Program Supervisor, you will lead a team of four+ scientists who are responsible for managing scientific research projects for which you will set performance expectations, coach staff on their work performance, provide guidance in projects, review deliverables, and evaluate progress in completing assigned tasks.

Pay Range
$35.50 - $45.27
Hours
8 :00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Monday - Friday with the ability for a 60% telework schedule per week after initial training period. Exceptions may apply subject to the business needs of the department.
May require working outside of normal business hours, including emergency events, evenings, weekends, and holidays as dictated by business needs.

Preferred Experience: - Experience leading or supervising a multidisciplinary team of scientists involved in environmental research.
- Experience designing and implementing environmental scientific studies or monitoring programs.
- Research experience in the analysis of environmental data, the use of statistical tools and models, particularly in one or more of the following topics hydrology, baseflow & stormwater monitoring, chemistry, and sediment transport.
- Experience with reporting, editing, publication, and presentation of scientific research projects.
- Experience with project management and budgets.
- Ability to travel to more than one work location.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
Develops, revises, and implements standard operating practices, policies, and procedures for the section/division. Determines goals, objectives, and resource requirements for activities within the division. Designs, develops, implements, and evaluates educational or outreach programs that promote energy, water, or natural resource utility conservation awareness and initiatives. Monitors and evaluates program and policy effectiveness and implements improvement strategies. Research utility energy, water, or natural resource conservation policies, best practices, and legislation to recommend changes to conservation initiatives. Coordinates division activities with other divisions and departments. Develops and implements multiple cross-functional, large projects, initiatives, and teams. Coordinates and collaborates with multiple stakeholders involved in or affected by programs or policy. Effectively communicates the section’s activities to internal and external customers.
Responsibilities - Supervision and/or Leadership Exercised:- Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal.

- Skill in data analysis and problem solving.
- Skill in utilizing metrics and dashboards to present information.
