This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of Environmental Quality, and will be located at 1730 East Elm Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources’ Waste Management Program. This position is a fast paced job and has a varied work composition. You’ll work with a diverse group of team members and stakeholders to ensure waste disposal in Missouri meets regulatory requirements for protection of human health and the environment.
- Responsible for coordinating with other team members to keep the programs internet pages updated and accurate.
- Supervise two clerical pool team members. This includes overseeing all formatting of technical documents, routing, logging, and mailing duties for the program. Overseeing filing of materials, retention of records, and mail distribution.
- Program contact for the Employee Time Reporting System. Assist team members with time accounting issues and questions including any necessary coordination with other program timekeepers.
- Secretarial duties for the Solid Waste Advisory Board and Hazardous Waste Commission. Act as liaison between commission and board and the Program Director. Record, transcribe, and distribute meeting summary of each meeting.
- Human Resources liaison for the Waste Management Program.
To be successful in this position, a candidate will need the following skills:

- Writing : Recognizes or uses correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling; communicates information (for example, facts, ideas, or messages) in a succinct, brief, clear, and organized manner; produces written information, which may include technical material, that is appropriate for the intended audience.
- Planning and Evaluating : Organizes work, sets priorities, and determines resource requirements; determines short- or long-term goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinates with other organizations or parts of the organization to accomplish goals; monitors progress and evaluates outcomes.
- Managing Performance : Takes responsibility for team member’s performance by setting and communicating expectations and goals that are specific and measurable, tracking progress against the goals, supporting employees’ efforts to achieve job goals (by providing resources, removing obstacles, acting as a buffer, etc.), ensuring feedback, and addressing performance problems and issues promptly.
Equivalent to those typically gained by:
- 3 to 5 years of general office experience with at least one year of supervisory or team lead experience.
(Additional education or experience may substitute for the required education or experience)
For supervisory positions, include the following statement (remove if not a supervisory position): Training, certification, and/or education in continuous process improvement programs such as Lean Six Sigma as well as completion of Missouri Way, Leadership Academy, and similar programs is preferred.

Salary:
$38,376-$40,296 per Year
