Description

The Position

The City of Riverside is accepting applications for the position of Code Enforcement Officer I / II to fill multiple vacancies on the Public Safety and Engagement Team (PSET) in the Department of Housing and Human Services. The eligibility list established may be used to fill the current and/or upcoming vacancies within this classification for up to six (6) months.

The Code Enforcement Officer (I / II) position works under close to general supervision, will perform technical office and field work associated with outside illegal storage, inoperable vehicles, noise, litter, sanitation, weeds and other public nuisance code provisions within public spaces, and will perform other related work as assigned.

Code Enforcement Officer I

$31.90 - $38.78 per hour

This is the entry level class in the Code Enforcement Officer series in which incumbents work under close supervision and receive detailed instruction in the performance of routine and less complex code enforcement activities. This class is distinguished from the Code Enforcement Officer II Work by the generality and simplicity of the assignments received and by the lesser independence with which an incumbent is expected to perform. Code Enforcement Officer II
$36.94 - $44.88 per hour


This is the journey level class in the Code Enforcement Officer series in which incumbents work under general supervision perform the full range of tasks and meet all qualifications of the class. This class is distinguished from the Code Enforcement Officer I by the greater complexity of the assignments received and by the greater independence with which an incumbent is expected to perform. Qualifications

Code Enforcement Officer I

Education: High School graduation or satisfactory equivalent (GED).

Experience: One year of responsible public contact work with primary experience in the area of enforcement of public laws or guidelines, conducting public inspection or complaint investigations, preferably supplemented by college level course work in planning, building, code enforcement, administration of justice or a related field.

Education: High School graduation or satisfactory equivalent (GED).

Experience: Two (2) years of responsible public contact work with primary experience in the area of enforcement of public laws or guidelines.
