Description:The Jefferson County Attorney’s Office has an immediate opening for an experienced
Litigation Paralegal. The ideal candidate will have over 2 years of experience as a litigation paralegal or legal assistant, adept in state and federal case filing, calendaring deadlines, preparation of motions and pleadings, and answers to interrogatories as well experience organizing documents and exhibits in preparation of litigation. Knowledge of litigation documents, court rules, and procedures is needed to successfully fulfill this role. A minimum of 1 year of prior experience working with multiple litigation attorneys, with a demonstrated ability to handle a variety of cases and manage competing priorities effectively.
Schedule: This position has the potential to operate on a four-day, 40-hour work week (Monday-Thursday) or a standard work week (Monday-Friday.) This position also offers the opportunity for remote work on some days of the week.
Salary: Anticipated Hire Range: $33.00 - $36.00 USD Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, and skills, including Equal Work for Equal Pay Considerations.

Essential Duties: This position involves assisting multiple attorneys in all aspects of legal work for a litigation caseload which includes but is not limited to:
- Electronically files court documents using the U.S. District Court ECF filing system, Colorado Court case filing system, and trains others in the use of such systems.
- Calendars and tracks filing and docket deadlines and other important dates.
- Prepares draft pleadings including complaints, answers, motions, notices, and discovery requests and responses for attorney review.
- Reviews, analyzes, and organizes (including Bates stamping) voluminous documents and discovery materials in complex civil litigation cases.
- Prepares exhibits and trial notebooks.
- Acts as liaison with clients, other law firms, courts, and other agencies.
- Performs research utilizing Westlaw and other internet and research services.
- Monitors State and Federal litigation procedural rules and statutes and keeps County Attorney staff advised of updates and changes.
- Develops specialized reports and demonstrative evidence exhibits such as timelines, wage calculation reports, and PowerPoint presentations.
- Tracks litigation and potential litigation claims and prepares audit report and periodic report of litigation matters and claims.
- Maintain case files, files and manages documents.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: An associate’s degree and a minimum of one year experience as a civil litigation paralegal or legal assistant working on litigation matters in a legal environment, corporate legal department, or for a government agency.
Preferred Qualifications: - More than 2 years of experience as a litigation paralegal. A paralegal certificate will be given additional weight.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - 2+ years of Paralegal experience in civil litigation.
- Experience working with multiple attorneys.
- Excellent writing skills and familiarity with drafting legal documents with ease and precision.
- Experience with e-filing using U.S. District Court ECF and Colorado Court E-Filing systems, proficiency in navigating electronic filing systems.
- Solid knowledge of litigation documents, court rules, and procedures, and efficient case management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to interact effectively with colleagues, clients, and external parties.
- Proven track record of providing exceptional client service and building strong relationships with both internal and external clients.
- Computer skills, including the ability to utilize Microsoft Office suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint etc.) Adobe Acrobat Pro. Ability to read and interpret statutes and legislation.
