What You'll Be Doing

The Wake County Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (ODEI) works with departments and agencies to promote a culture that is welcoming, affirming, diverse, equitable, and inclusive in order to foster a sense of belonging for (Team) Wake and beyond, with the goal of advancing human potential and growth.

We are seeking a creative, open-minded, and highly collaborative team member to serve as our new Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Consultant.

The Consultant will partner with the DEI Director and key stakeholders to execute strategic plans focused on developing leaders' and employees' skills in creating an inclusive and equitable environment that allows everyone to bring their authentic selves to work and have opportunities to grow and thrive.

The DEI Consultant will receive a portfolio of departmental “customers” with whom they will work closely to build and implement customized DEI capacity-building strategies. The Consultant will assist in developing and implementing programs and training, collaborate in the creation of short and long-term equity goals, track metrics, and develop reports that measure results and inform decision-making. The Consultant will foster a culture of inclusion through a commitment and dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Additionally, the Consultant will support interpersonal skill-building and infrastructure strategies to address inequities in practices, policies, and programs.

The Wake County Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion works with Wake County Government departments and agencies to promote a culture that is welcoming, affirming, diverse equitable, and inclusive in order to foster a sense of belonging for (Team) Wake and beyond, with the goal of advancing human potential and growth. The DEI Consultant will serve the Division of Organizational Development, which is positioned to lead and support the successful implementation of strategies to integrate DEI into our workforce. These strategies are scalable by careful planning, total collaboration, and lifting the voices of all with lived experiences. Our division follows a 3-tiered implementation model that builds on existing successful practices and takes the opportunity to reimagine for change.

Location: Justice Center Raleigh, NC

Employment Type: Regular

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:15 pm

Hiring Range: $60,244 - $102,423 (starting salary will be based on candidate's qualifications and internal equity)

Market Range: 60,244.00 - 102,423.00

Emergency Service Worker Statement

In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.
