Position DescriptionThis position is responsible for assuring smooth operation of the clinic patient flow. Employees serve as primary contacts for patients and are responsible for scheduling appointments, preparing necessary paperwork before the patient visits, receiving patients, and maintaining records. In addition, this position is responsible for processing charges for clinic services, filing insurance claims, responding to requests for information from patients and insurance companies and maintaining related information for the department. Employees may have cash handling responsibilities.
Major/Essential FunctionsResponsible for assuring smooth operation of the hospital demographics as needed. Responsible for obtaining hospital demographics from NWTH, BSA, Coders and other resources. Responsible for making new accounts or updating existing accounts with the correct information supplied by the hospital systems. Responsible for verifying eligibility for insurance through various websites. Employees in this classification receive general supervision. Most work is performed according to established procedures: problems of an unusual nature are referred to supervisor. Ability to communicate effectively both internally and externally. Ability to understand and follow instructions.
Required QualificationsA High School diploma or GED. 1-year Customer Service, office, or related experience. Additional education may substitute for the experience requirement.
