Summary

Overview

D444 is Hiring a Test Engineer responsible for supporting the Performance and Administration of the Strategic Weapons System (SWS) Test program for the COLUMBIA Class. This position supports Test Planning/Administration development and issuance of test addendums, review and certify test procedures for closeout to support major key events, maintaining support material for the test department, reviewing Test Inspection Reports (TIR), Construction Support Diagrams (CSD's), Test Pressure Diagrams (TPD's) and supporting the development of the SWS Test Program for the Columbia Class. This individual will support the SWS Test Administration Group and work closely with Planning, Engineering, and EB Trades.

The SWS Test Engineering responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Coordination & Development of test documentation for multiple hulls, consistent with program goals, key event schedule, system status and ships conditions
  • Develop and maintain long range test schedules and plans, align Artemis schedules with SWS Test playbook
  • Track Ship's Installation progress to align with test addendum issuance
  • Identify all testing affecting special emphasis programs.
  • Maintain personal knowledge of day to day test documentation status of the ship
  • Support Test Execution ensuring Test Directors (TD) have approved test procedures for conduct
  • Conduct Test Form Certification reviews in SWS Interactive Test Procedures (ITP) and Track Lessons Learned
  • Regularly surveille Test Procedures, Test Change Incorporation (TCI) & Test Certification processes
  • Work with installation trades, planning, inspection and ships management to align TIR's with associated Test Documentation
    Support Development of Test Equipment Drawings
  • Interface with Strategic Systems Programs (SSP), SWS Project Officer (SWSPO) Test Documentation Group (TDG), PMS 397, SSGR, Navy Crew and Branch contractors supporting SSP
  • Verify Test Documentation is IAW Columbia Integrated Test Requirements Outline (ITRO) and Strategic Weapon System Test Execution Plan (SWSTEP)
  • Coordination of Test Documentation Between Quonset Point, Groton and interfacing test departments (D972, D272, D441, D278, D445)
  • Support extended shift work (1st, 2nd and 3rd) as required to minimize schedule impacts.
  • Occasional Travel between Facilities to support SWS Test & Training Opportunities. (Quonset Point, Groton, Cape Canaveral)
  • Support Sea Trials


Qualifications

Required:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must meet one of the following qualifications:
    • Experience with formal certification processes, or configuration-controlled documentation.
    • Experience developing or maintaining technical drawings, test equipment diagrams, or supporting documents.
  • Ability to Obtain and Maintain a Secret level DOD security clearance and Common Access Card (CAC).

Preferred:
  • SWS Program Experience or Prior Related Military
  • Familiarity with shipyard trades and construction processes (pipe fitting, electrical, mechanical, hull, inspection).
  • Familiarity with system installation progress tracking and aligning test activities to construction or major event schedules.
  • Experience with Build then Test (BTT) or Production Control (PC) Planning Process
  • Advanced Proficiency in Artemis & Teamcenter


Skills

  • Strong technical knowledge and experience with submarine test programs.
  • Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems.
  • Ability to read and interpret CSD's and TPD's
  • Advanced Understanding of EB systems and software; PCM, Artemis, CPRS, ITP, MRPII, Teamcenter, EB7G, and Microsoft Office tools.
