Campus Safety Officer
Anticipated 2025-2026 Opening Duties: Per the attached job description Effective Date: ASAP Salary: $48,226 Benefits: Full-time staff are eligible for medical, prescription, and dental benefits. Sick and personal days are included. Open until filled. Salary and benefits as determined by the Board of Education and any applicable collective bargaining agreements. Qualifications: Experience in law enforcement, military or SORA certification. Possess basic technical skills. Able to work flexible hours. Physically able to perform tasks including being outside during cold or inclement weather. Minimum of a high school diploma with an associate's degree from an accredited college preferred.
Reports To: Building Principal
Job Goal: To assist building principals in maintaining a safe and positive environment in our schools.
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Monitor campus activities and safety via roving patrol, surveillance cameras and other security equipment.
2. Work with the principal on reviewing and updating the building crisis response plan on an annual basis.
3. Work with the building principal on planning and implementing security drills on a monthly basis.
4. Supervise campus parking areas during bus arrivals and departures including afternoon activity bus departures.
5. Assist in the monitoring of student behavior throughout the campus.
6. Investigate student residency issues.
7. Serve as liaison with local police.
8. Assist law enforcement officials as directed by building administration.
9. Attend social, athletic and other events to assist building administration in monitoring student behavior.
10. At the request of the building administration, present safety-related programs to students and staff.
11. Perform other duties within the scope of his/her employment and certification as may be assigned.
