Public Safety OfficerMake a difference in a family's life!VOA Upstate New York's continuum of residential programs offer homeless & low-income individuals and families safe housing and support services. We provide long-term solutions to the problems of homelessness, addiction, incarceration, and poverty by helping the people we serve overcome obstacles and develop healthier, more self-sufficient lives.Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesConduct monitoring activities for Residential Reentry Center residents and former residents on home confinementEnsure the protection and safety of residents, staff and siteMaintain resident confidentiality at all times and keep records in accordance with regulatory agencies and VOAs guidelinesMonitor internal and external activities of the facility and programHelp residents understand and follow policies and program rulesComplete check-in and check-out processes for residents entering or leaving the facilityConduct security checks, breathalyzers and urine screens as requiredAnswer agency phonesReport any issues or concerns to supervisor in accordance with divisional guidelinesModel agency values and core expectationsComplete standard reports, paperwork and data entry as requested or requiredOther duties as directedExperience and Education QualificationsAbility to learn and apply interpersonal and crisis management skillsAbility to learn and implement safe evacuation and disaster proceduresAbility to exhibit calming presence and interact in a polite, courteous, professional mannerAbility to lift and carry heavy objects up to 50 lbs unassisted safely and carefullyAbility to pass Federal Bureau of Prisons background checkAbility to obtain first aid and CPR certificationValid NY State IdentificationVOA provides comprehensive benefits for eligible employees including:Competitive PayPaid Time OffHealth, Dental, Vision InsuranceCompany Paid Life & LTD Insurance403(b), & more!All qualified applicants will be afforded equal employment opportunity and will be considered for employment without regard to race, creed, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age disability, protected veteran status, or marital status.
