Summary
Job DescriptionJob Purpose or Objective(s): Responsible for representing the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma in criminal and juvenile actions in the Choctaw Nation District Court. You will report to the Lead Tribal Prosecutor.Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pmPrimary Tasks:1. Represent the Choctaw Nation in criminal and juvenile cases within the jurisdiction of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.2. Facilitate communication with professionals in the legal community, law enforcement, child welfare agencies, juvenile affairs agencies, and federal, state, and local officials to prosecute criminal and juvenile actions within the jurisdiction of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.3. Maintain good inter-departmental relations and communication with the judicial department, law enforcement, state offices, and other legal departments.4. Confer with the Lead Prosecutor and other prosecutors regarding the prosecution of cases in the Choctaw Nation District Court.5. Assist Choctaw Nation Lighthorse Police, Indian Child Welfare workers and Office of Juvenile Affairs representatives.6. Perform other tasks as may be assigned.Job Requirements:• Juris Doctorate from accredited law school• Licensed to practice law by a State within the United States• Experience with criminal, juvenile delinquent, and deprived case procedures.• Three [3] years of experience as a prosecuting attorney.• Courtroom experience in criminal or juvenile matters.Skills:AssessmentData Collection & AnalysisKnowledge ManagementManaging ChangePlanning & OrganizingPolicy & RegulationPresentation SkillsReportingVerbal CommunicationWriting Skills
