Job Description

The responsibilities of an Estimator:
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and bid proposals for federal construction projects
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and project documentation to develop accurate pricing
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and vendors throughout the DC market
  • Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor bids
  • Support preconstruction efforts and participate in bid strategy discussions
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Estimating and project teams throughout the estimating process
  • Mentor and help develop a junior estimator on the team
  • Assist in identifying project risks, opportunities, and value engineering options
  • Ensure estimates are completed accurately and within deadline requirements
  • Utilize Bluebeam, Adobe, and Microsoft Office to support estimating activities

The Successful Applicant

A successful Estimator should have:
  • 5-7+ years of estimating experience within a General Contractor environment
  • Experience estimating federal construction projects is required
  • Ideally a strong network of subcontractors and suppliers throughout the DC/Maryland market
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Experience reviewing plans, specifications, and bid documents
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam, Adobe, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Desire to mentor junior team members and contribute to a collaborative culture
