CAREER DESCRIPTIONWAREHOUSE WORKER I
Salary may be negotiable within the range listed above, based on position requirements and successful candidate's qualifications, subject to appropriate authorization.
OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
This recruitment will establish an open eligible list that will be used to fill current and future Warehouse Worker Ipositions. The eligible list established may also be used to fill positions in similar and/or lower classifications throughout the County of Orange.

PROBATION
The County of Orange , Probation Department assists the criminal justice system in making a safer Orange County through positive change. Under the direction of the Chief Probation Officer and an executive team with an organizational structure comprised of four bureaus - Adult Operations, Juvenile Operations, Strategic Development, and Administrative Services, the Department impacts the community by using efficient, evidence-based and research supported practices to reduce crime and assist the Courts in managing offenders. Probation staff work diligently to protect the safety of the community, assist victims, and provide growth opportunities to clients, at-risk community members, and justice involved individuals.

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Warehouse Worker I position handles day to day functions of the mailroom including receiving and sorting incoming mail; posting and arranging outgoing mail; distributing mail and packages to various departments; performing labor in loading and unloading delivery packages; and delivering to designated locations following established routes. Duties require the use of iPad, dolly, intercom and walkie talkie. The incumbent may perform a variety of manual, clerical or other duties as required.
Responsibilities and duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Driving and delivering mail to mail rooms across various County of Orange office locations
- Stamping and preparing outgoing mail
- Logging all items that are received and placing them in the appropriate recipients’ mail slots
- Notifying staff when mail is ready to pick up
- Responding to staff by phones and/or email
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIES
In addition to the minimum qualifications, the ideal candidate will possess one (1) or more years of experience operating and maintaining a mailroom, storeroom, and/or records in a warehouse setting or similar institution, with proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Outlook, and Excel . The incumbent will also have proven skills to communicate courteously and professionally with employees at various levels and the public at all times including under difficult conditions.
In addition, the ideal candidate will also have extensive experience in the following core competencies:

License/Certification
Possession of a Class C California Driver License is required before the date of appointment and while employed in this classification. Driving record must not have a citation for reckless driving or a citation related to driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol or other restrictions that negatively impact insurability.
Special Requirements
In some assignments, incumbents, may be required to obtain and maintain a Forklift Operator certificate.
RECRUITMENT PROCESS
Human Resource Services (HRS) will screen all application materials to identify qualified applicants. After screening, qualified applicants will be referred to the next step and notified of all further procedures applicable to their status in the competition.

Written Assessment (Proctored, Weighted 100%)
Applicants who meet qualifications will be invited to participate in one or more job related assessments. Applicants will be notified of their test date. Only the most qualified candidates will advance to the next step in the recruitment process or will be placed on the eligible list.

Eligible List
Once the assessment has been completed, HRS will establish an eligible list of candidates. Candidates placed on the eligible list may be referred to a selection interview to be considered for present and future vacancies.
Based on the County's needs, the selection procedures listed above may be modified. All candidates will be notified of any changes in the selection procedures.
