Summary
THE POSITION:
Reporting to the Head of the Washington, DC Office, the Deputy Head of the Washington, DC Office supervises junior staff, manages projects, and oversees operations. In addition, the Deputy Head is expected to lead complex client engagements and engage in business development efforts. The firm seeks an experienced investigative leader who has strong project management skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and can work collaboratively with a diverse group of individuals.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Client Engagement, Management, and Research
- The Deputy Head will lead complex client engagements from intake through billing, including proposal preparation; development of investigative plans; client management; management of staff and monitoring of research progress and budgets; preparation and transmission of work product; and billing and collection.
- The Deputy Head will lead client intake meetings, prepare proposals in support of other senior staff, answer general inquiries, and generate business opportunities.
- The Deputy Head will manage staffing, in collaboration with NY Deputy Office Head, and under the supervision of the US Office Heads and Regional Head for the Americas.
- The Deputy Head will supervise junior staff by monitoring utilization, performance, and training, and by holding monthly check-ins to manage performance and professional development.
- The Deputy Head will meet regularly with junior staff to monitor progress and well-being in addition to preparing and participating in performance evaluations.
- The Deputy Head will participate in recruitment activities.
- Minimum 8 to 10 years of relevant investigative and supervisory experience.
- The ability to communicate effectively and persuasively, both verbally and in writing.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a high degree of sensitivity for confidentiality. Must be task-oriented with an excellent sense of priority, logic, and objectivity, as well as highly organized and capable of handling various sensitive and important matters simultaneously.
- Superior leadership skills and the ability to build consensus, motivate others, and effect change.
- Ability to motivate a diverse workforce, assure accountability for the provision of quality services, and contribute in a significant manner to the financial performance of the firm.
- A demonstrable record of enthusiasm, integrity, and ethical behavior.
- Fluency in a language other than English is preferred.
- A college degree is required. An advanced degree is preferred.
- Some travel is required.
