The County Executive's Office of Community Affairs is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Associate Management Analyst. The Associate Management Analyst (Associate MA) will support the Office of Community Affairs (OCA) by combining expertise in contract and procurement administration as well as a strong focus on community engagement.

This is a Departmental Promotional Only recruitment. Only current County of San Mateo employees in the County Executive's Office with at least six months (1040 hours) of continuous service in classified regular, probationary, or extra-help/limited term positions prior to the final filing date may apply.

The Associate MA will structure solicitations, develop and monitor agreements, and track performance while building trusted relationships with residents and partners, especially in historically underserved and coastal communities. This position ensures that the County's agreements are well-structured, compliant, and aligned with both strategic goals and the needs of residents. This role will also be responsible for monitoring expenditure and ensuring progress toward established objectives.

The Associate MA will contribute to special project work such as:

Success in this position requires precision in contract and procurement processes as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders. The role will include fieldwork, i.e., engaging with residents and businesses in the unincorporated areas of San Mateo County.

Spanish/English bilingual proficiency is required which will enable the Associate MA to engage and work successfully with monolingual and bilingual communities. The position may require attending occasional evening or weekend meetings to support community engagement efforts.

This is a Departmental Promotional Only recruitment. The examination process will consist of an Application Screening (weight: pass/fail) and an Interview (weight: 100%), which may include the evaluation of a brief writing exercise given immediately preceding the interview. Applicants must successfully pass the Application Screening to move forward to the interview. Candidates must successfully pass the interview to be placed on the eligible (hiring) list.

Depending on the number of applications a screening committee may select those applicants whose education and/or experience appear to best meet the needs of the position. For that reason, not all applicants with the minimum qualifications are guaranteed to advance through the recruitment steps.
