ABOUT THE POSITION

The Clark County Comprehensive Planning Department is seeking qualified candidates for the Assistant Planning Manager position within the Current Planning Division. This position performs advanced professional urban planning work with a focus on current planning, zoning administration, land use application and review processing within a regulatory public agency environment. The role is responsible for supervising, reviewing, and evaluating the work of professional planners and technical staff engaged in these functions, either directly or through subordinate leads. The Assistant Planning Manager supports the Planning Manager in the daily administration and long-term direction of the division, ensuring consistent interpretation and application of zoning codes, ordinances, and land use regulations, and assisting in the development and implementation of policy, procedural, and operational improvements related to planning functions.

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience:

Equivalent to Master's Degree in city, regional, transportation or urban planning or related field AND three (3) years of full-time professional planning experience, including two (2) years of lead or management experience in the planning field. A Bachelor's Degree in appropriate field and two (2) additional years of directly related experience in an area of planning that has provided the knowledge and skills required at this level may be substituted for the Master's Degree.

Working Conditions: Attend meetings outside of normal working hours. Travel to meetings outside of the local area.

Licensing and Certification: Specified positions must possess a valid Nevada Class C driver's license at time of appointment. AICP certification preferred.

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.
