The Public Works, Facilities & Parks Department brings together a range of functions to ensure safe building construction, plan for the future needs of the County, manage infrastructure and county facilities, and protect natural resources. The Monterey County parks system benefits the community by providing a vast assortment of outdoor recreational activities. Park sites throughout the County serve residents and visitors by promoting health and wellness, and providing outdoor space to play, exercise and access facilities for self-directed or organized recreation.

The Public Works, Facilities & Parks Department is seeking candidates for Parks Building and Grounds Worker II to perform a variety of visitor service support activities at an assigned County Park. County parks are located in both North and South County and include San Lorenzo Park in King City, Royal Oaks Park in Watsonville, Jacks Peak Park in Monterey, and Toro Park in Salinas. Position vacancies for all park locations will be filled using the eligibility list established by this recruitment.

Typical duties include unskilled and semi-skilled grounds and facility maintenance work such as routine gardening and landscaping, road and concrete maintenance, minor carpentry, electrical, and plumbing repairs, cleaning of restrooms, and visitor services such as fee collection and customer relations.

The Eligible List established by this recruitment process may be used County-wide to fill current and future vacancies on a regular full-time, part-time, or temporary basis.

Experience:

Two (2) years' experience in the maintenance and development of park, farm or ranch land, performing customer service and unskilled to semi-skilled building maintenance, landscaping, grounds, and facility clean-up, maintenance, and repair work.
