ABOUT THE POSITION

The Clark County Department of Aviation is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Maintenance Worker I/II position. This position performs unskilled and semi-skilled work in the care and maintenance of facilities, buildings, roads, water and wastewater and related DOA and local agency areas surrounding such facilities. This position assists skilled crew and learns to perform basic tasks in such craft areas as carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, electronic and mechanical repair, and construction. Further, this position loads and unloads trucks, fuels equipment, vehicles, automobiles and trucks, picks up and delivers materials and equipment, cleans and maintains tools and equipment, and maintains work areas in a clean and orderly condition. Further, this position operates and adjusts a variety of hand and power tools and equipment common to the maintenance area to which assigned and may operate light equipment and drive trucks as assigned. This recruitment may be used to hire for various divisions including, but not limited to, Facilities, Terminal Operations, and Airside Operations.

Maintenance Worker I: $20.69 - $30.52 Hourly
Maintenance Worker II: $22.33 - $32.96 Hourly

The Maintenance Worker I is a training underfill position, upon successful completion of the training program the successful candidate will be non-competitively promoted to Maintenance Worker II.

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility List to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Employee Services.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience:

Maintenance Worker I - Equivalent to graduation from high school AND one (1) year of full-time general maintenance training or experience which included performing sustained physical labor.

Maintenance Worker II - In addition to the above, one (1) year of full-time general maintenance experience which included performing sustained physical labor specifically in the field to which assigned.

Working Conditions: Work outdoors, sometimes in adverse weather conditions and extreme temperatures. Work extended shifts or be called back in emergency situations. Work with exposure to potentially hazardous paints, chemicals, solvents, sealant and fuels. Work with exposure to heavy traffic. May work with exposure to potentially hazardous environments including biological debris and waste.

Licensing and Certification: Must possess a valid Nevada Class C driver's license at time of appointment. Specified positions at the Airport may require airport certification.

Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.

Residency Requirement: Permanent employees must maintain a principal place of residency within the boundaries of Clark County and provide proof of compliance with Nevada motor vehicle registration and drivers' license laws within 90 days of employment.

Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.

Background Check: Employment with the Department of Aviation is contingent upon completion of an education/experience background investigation, a fingerprint-based criminal history record check processed by the FBI, and upon the ability to be granted and maintain a security badge as mandated by the Transportation Security Administration. Note: all prospective hires must present two original government issued ID's upon acceptance of job offer. Examples of acceptable ID's include a Passport, Driver's License or DMV issued ID, birth certificate, Social Security card, Voter Registration card, school issued ID with picture, etc.

Customs and Border Protection Security Seal Program: Employment with the Department of Aviation in this job title is contingent upon a ten year employment and five year residency history record check and the ability to present original identity based documentation in order to meet the requirements for a Security Seal.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Strength and mobility to work in a typical field or shop maintenance setting, including operating hand and power tools; stamina to perform sustained physical labor, including standing, walking, climbing and working in confined or awkward spaces; strength to lift and maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds with proper equipment; vision to read printed materials; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over a radio or telephone.
