ABOUT THE POSITION

The Clark County Manager's Office is seeking qualified candidates to apply for Senior Management Analyst (Government Affairs) position to support the Government Affairs Director. In this capacity, you will help to represent the County interests in the legislative and budget proceedings and report back to the Clark County Board of County Commissioners, Senior Management team and County departments.

The Senior Management Analyst (Government Affairs) will be responsible for professional analytical work and research, drafting and review of legislation, amendments, testimony and any other documents needed to represent the County before legislative committees and in the legislative process. When not in legislative session, the Senior Management Analyst (Government Affairs) will support the Government Affairs department in handling local, state and federal affairs for Clark County.

This position requires the ability to work independently, to take ownership of assigned tasks, strong project management skills, and the ability to handle confidential information and to work well under pressure, with a team, and within tight deadlines to achieve the goals of the Department.

This position also requires mandatory travel to Carson City, Nevada as part of the County’s legislative team and may require temporary relocation for a period greater than 120 days.

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources. Human Resources reserves the right to call only the most qualified applicants to the selection process.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree with major course work in Business or Public Administration or a related field, AND four (4) years of full-time professional experience in performing administrative, budgetary, operational or similar analyses and studies. Professional level experience that has provided the skills and knowledge necessary to perform all job functions at this level may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis up to two (2) years. Experience in a public agency setting and project or programmatic lead experience is desirable.

Licensing and Certification: Specified positions may be required to possess a valid Nevada Class C driver's license at time of appointment.

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.
