Description:The
Head Start Education Supervisor is a leader responsible for ensuring high-quality, inclusive early childhood education services that support children and families in achieving school readiness and long-term success. This role provides reflective supervision, coaching, and operational leadership to teaching staff, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability.
The Education Supervisor ensures that classrooms implement developmentally appropriate, research-based practices aligned with Head Start Program Performance Standards, state licensing requirements, and program goals. This position plays a critical role in strengthening instructional quality, supporting staff growth, and ensuring safe, engaging learning environments for all children.
This role is grounded in
trauma-informed practices, recognizing the impact of trauma on children, families, and staff. The Education Supervisor models and promotes emotionally responsive, relationship-based approaches that prioritize psychological safety, co-regulation, and culturally responsive care.
SCHEDULE: This is a full-time, standard position that operates on a five-day work week (Monday-Friday). Occasional after-hours may be required, no weekends.Please note that we have sites located in Arvada, Lakewood and Wheatridge, travel to these sites will be expected.
COMPENSATION: Hiring Range: $70,000.00 - $76,000.00 USD Annual
Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, and skills.
Staff that are fluent in a language other than English may be eligible for additional compensation of $3,000 annually for use of bi-lingual skills. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:- Supervise full-time and part-time teaching staff, including Lead Teachers, Teacher Associates, Classroom Aides, and substitutes; provide ongoing performance management, reflective supervision, and support for professional growth.
- Provide coaching using the Practice-Based Coaching (PBC) framework, including goal setting, observation, feedback, and data-driven improvement planning to strengthen teacher-child interactions and instructional quality.
- Support classroom operations and ratio coverage, including stepping into classrooms as needed; maintain required teaching qualifications and reliability (e.g., TS GOLD inter-rater reliability).
- Lead with a problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset, using data (e.g., CLASS, TS GOLD, Results Matter) to identify trends, inform decisions, and drive instructional improvement.
- Ensure implementation of high-quality, developmentally appropriate practices, including curriculum fidelity, intentional teaching, and inclusive practices for children with diverse needs.
- Promote trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices, supporting staff in creating safe, predictable, and relationship-based classroom environments.
- Ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, Colorado Licensing, and program policies, while balancing regulatory requirements with quality improvement and staff support.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners (e.g., Education team, Disabilities, Mental Health, Family Services) to support whole-child outcomes.
- Support staff development and pipeline growth, including mentoring, onboarding, and developing future educators.
- Communicate effectively with diverse audiences, including staff, families, and leadership, to ensure clarity, alignment, and shared goals.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
- Experience: 3 years of work-related experience.
- Certifications/Licenses: None
- Note an equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education.
- Experience with Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365.
- Previous Head Start experience.
- Understanding of adult learning principles and the ability to apply them through coaching, reflective supervision, and job-embedded professional development
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices
- Ability to balance compliance requirements with quality improvement and staff development
- Experience supervising or leading teams, including providing feedback, coaching, and performance management
ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION:- Offer of employment contingent on review of child abuse neglect database, fingerprint results, criminal background, sex offender registry, motor vehicle record check, and education verification.
- Must have a valid driver's license, if you are from out of state, you must obtain a valid Colorado driver's license within 30 days of hire date and you must not have any major violations, nor more than one DUI, DWI, DWAI conviction in the past three years.
- Willingness to occasionally travel to assigned Head Start Sites (Arvada, Wheat Ridge and Lakewood).
